EW overbid to 3Nt in the Open Room whereas in the Close Room, they got to play the contract at 1Nt level. Part of the difficulty was due to the 2♥ overcall in the Open Room. Vivek Chose a more conservative 1♥ in the Close room, so EW had little difficulty in negotiating further bidding. In a sense the 2♥ overcaller turned out to be somewhat lucky. Had West held one more Heart, South would have gone for 800, but then that is what Bridge is all about - taking risks at the right time!
