This is an excellent deal for a bridge student. In the Close Room, Sathya opened 1♥. In the Open room, I passed. Notice that the limit of EW is 2♥ made two for 110. NS can make 2♠. After West's opening in the Close Room, JM competed up to 3♠. After the ♦Ace lead, the contract was due to go down one, but that is easier said than done. East could never be sure that West held a stiff Diamond. once East shifted, North had nine tricks. Exchange East and South's minor suit Aces and 4♠ will be cold.
My tactic of passing was on its way to success, but the defence gave away the advantage. Prabhakaran won the opening lead with ♥Ace and played a small Diamond from Dummy at trick 2. Vivek could have solved all the problems by going up with a Diamond and pushing a Heart, but he didn't. After that Declarer had seven easy tricks. We still got two IMPs.
